THE THREE BORROMEAN ISLANDS
Diamonds on the water
The Borromean Islands, named after the noble Borromeo family who owns them, are undoubtedly the crowning jewels of Lake Maggiore. Suspended between water and sky, between dream and reality, they have inspired poets and writers, artists and intellectuals for centuries. They have been a reference point for aristocratic families, important travelers, and simple dreamers alike.
Each island is unique and extraordinary.
L’Isola Bella
Is the most famous and celebrated of the Borromean Islands. The palace is a true triumph of Baroque architecture, while the renowned garden is a masterpiece of art and nature. Among mythological statues, terraces, elegant fountains, plants, and flowers, proud white peacocks roam, stealing the show with their splendid displays. A small wonder of nature, a delightful spectacle that amazes every visitor.
L’Isola Madre
Is the most enchanting of the Borromean Islands, thanks to its panoramic position, the beauty of its gardens, and its serene, enveloping atmosphere. At the highest point stands the 16th-century palace, once the summer residence of the Borromeo family. Inside, it houses works from 17th-century Lombardy, precious furnishings, porcelain pieces and—an unexpected surprise—puppet theaters complete with painted backdrops and original scripts, remnants of a theatrical tradition that once entertained guests and members of the Borromeo household. However, the true marvel of the island is the botanical garden, where nature flourishes in all its magnificence. Traditional plants of the lake, such as camellias, azaleas, and rhododendrons, gracefully alternate with palms, eucalyptus, olive trees, citrus, and other prized species. As visitors leave the garden, surrounded by vibrant colors and intense floral fragrances, their gaze is lost in the stunning view of the Borromean Gulf and the mountains overlooking the lake. A little corner of paradise... and the dream continues.
L’Isola dei Pescatori
Is the smallest of the Borromean Gulf islands and the only one still inhabited. In stark contrast to the opulence of its famous sisters, the island has preserved the ancient simplicity of a typical fishing village, rich in environmental values. Once inhabited by simple folk, mainly dedicated to fishing, today the island attracts numerous tourists wandering through narrow streets filled with old shops and colorful stalls. In its many traditional restaurants, visitors can savor fresh fish dishes rooted in local traditions. Fish and fishermen, flavors and colors—every corner recalls the island's history, a life of hard work and a deep bond with the lake, a bond of water and love.
The Borromean Islands are places that touch the heart. They are experiences to live at least once in a lifetime. It’s time to be amazed! Come visit them with us! Come live a dream!

Villa Taranto Gardens
Scents, colors, and enchantment
Considered among the most beautiful gardens in the world, Villa Taranto is a place where native and exotic plants coexist in perfect harmony. A unique oasis, that still today offers its visitors an unforgettable spectacle of scents and colours.

Arona, a vibrant town on Lake Maggiore, is a treasure chest of history and culture. Strolling along the lakeside promenade is truly delightful, leading to the bustling heart of the town: Piazza del Popolo.

Cannobio
A medieval jewel full of spirituality
Cannobio, the last town before reaching the Swiss border, welcomes visitors with its still medieval appearance characterised by houses of different colours and heights, typical of Lake Maggiore architecture. On the lakefront, like a vessel, dominates the Santuario of SS. Pietà, built to commemorate the miracle of the Sacra Costa that occurred on 7, 8, 9 and 28 January 1522.
